LEARN INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGIES WITH ME!

1- SECOND LIFE
Let’s start with clarifying what Second Life is.
Second Life is a 3-D online virtual world where avatars do the kind of stuff real people do in real life: Buy stuff. Sell stuff. Gamble. Listen to music. Buy property. Play games. Watch movies and so on.

One benefit of this game is to encourage students to spend more time with technology in an educational way.
Students play the game even they are not aware of learning. You just create a new character which is called avatars and have fun with it!
When it comes to the experience that I have, I would say that it was a really different atmosphere for me as I am not used to using such games. Since the explanations are clear for me, I easily created my avatar and started to play.

2) PODCAST
A podcast is a series of on-demand digital audio files that often focus on a particular topic or theme. Podcasts can be accessed online via a computer, tablet, or smartphone, and downloaded so that they can be listened to at any time. Listeners can consume podcasts in the car, at work, at home, working out, or anywhere they please using headphones or speakers. Also, listeners can be automatically updated on new episodes in a podcast by subscribing to their chosen podcasts.
The term podcast is actually a portmanteau of iPod and Broadcast. The “pod” of the podcast is borrowed from Apple’s “iPod” digital media player, while the “cast” portion of the podcast is taken from the radio term “broadcast.”
It's also important to note that podcasts are generally free to listen to.

http://www.educationtoday.com.au/_images/articles/pdf/article-pdf-0411.pdf

What I understood from this article is, we should use Moodle for several reasons.
-We need to take a closer look at our students, the so called digital natives.
-Our students enjoy random access because they’re comfortable with hyper texting. That means they can jump from page to page and subject to subject quickly and easily.
-They process information by looking at graphics first because they’re used to being plugged in visually.

12) PADLET
Padlet is an online virtual “bulletin” board, where students and teachers can collaborate, reflect, share links and pictures, in a secure location.

Padlet is a website that provides users with a digital canvas. The user can post text, videos and images from a mobile device or a desktop. One of the great appeals of Padlet for classroom use is the fact that many people can post to the same board at the same time, making it very suitable for collaborative work and the creation of projects.
How To Use Padlet in Foreign Language Education?

Padlet is a web app that lets users post notes on a digital wall. The uses for this site in the classroom are virtually endless!
Padlet is a great place for gathering ideas, sharing them and modifying them later. It’s like a living, breathing webpage. Users can add links, YouTube videos, files and images to Padlet notes. They can move and arrange them. A link to a Padlet can be shared and Padlets can be embedded into webpages.

Here are 5 ways to use this versatile tool in class:

1) Collaborative notetaking — While listening to a presentation, students can work together to add notes to a Padlet to produce a resource they can refer to later. This also works with staff meetings!

2) Ask for suggestions or ideas — Let students, parents or others share ideas for improving. Be careful, though — asking for suggestions like this can begin a flame war of negative messages. You can enable moderating (Settings > Privacy > Moderate posts) so you approve posts before they’re public.

3) Poster presentations — Replace poster boards with Padlet. Have students add images, information and links. Then embed them in a class website.

4) Collect videos to share in class — Gather all the YouTube videos you want to show your class in one place. Those videos are clickable and viewable from the Padlet. Then, post a link to the Padlet on a class website (or just provide the link) so absent students can watch to catch up.

5) Gather responses globally — Create a Padlet with a question and post it on Twitter, a blog or other social media. (A hashtag like #comments4kids could help more people see it and respond.) See where in the world responses come from!

This is my poster in Padlet which gives information about planets and interesting facts. In case you can not see or read the sentences, I give you the link.

It seems like Instagram at the first glance.

This is my account in Pinterest. I have 2 bulletin boards there which are called "Language Learning" and "My Creatures". In Language Learning board I pinned some photographs that are related to ELT. In My Creatures board I pinned my own material that I created in Padlet. Also, I added the link there in order to make accessible for everyone. In a way, it provides hyperlink.
If you want to take a look at my pinterest account, here is the link for you.
